Osteoarthitis

Osteoarthritis (OA) impacting on one’s joints is becoming increasingly prevalent today. Estimates suggest that one in three people aged between 40 and 50 years has OA, with an associated negative impact on the economy. Despite many years of research, no one has yet succeeded in developing a causal therapy for degenerative joint diseases and thereby curing OA. Until now, therapeutic efforts have been predominantly confined to purely symptomatic treatment aimed at reducing the pain and inflammatory reactions of OA.

Selected Amino Acids

Selected amino acids are important in the biosynthesis of collagen tissues in helping them withstand stress and strains. Collagen is one of the main components of the extracellular matrix of hyaline cartilaginous tissue – including those appearing in one’s joints. In a clinical study with athletes, it was shown that a daily dose of 3g oral intake of selected amino acids, provides effective pain relief, e.g. in tendons and ligaments. Experience from a double-blind, multi-center study of sports people further proves the fast therapeutic effect of taking additional selected amino acids in soft-tissue injuries.

BioEqual has developed an effervescent tablet containing such selected amino acids as a nutritional supplement. A gel formulation is also available for topical use. Both products showed rapid pain relief in acute soft-tissue injuries and joint pains.
